<div>‘Upbit Developer Conference (UDC) 2018’, which had Chairman Song Chi-young of Dunamu, CEO Sirgoo Lee of Dunamu, and CEO Bill Shihara of Bittrex in attendance, came to an end on the 14th.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;UDC took place at ICC (International Convention Center) JEJU on the 13th and the 14th. While blockchain events in the past were simply Meetup events where companies introduced their coins, UDC 2018 centered on developers that introduced technical skills and practicality.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;About 1,600 people came to UDC 2018. Most of speakers of UDC 2018 were people who are responsible for practical affairs rather than CEOs of companies. Speakers had gathered developers while introducing their projects.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“UDC 2018 was excellent as it gave us opportunities to introduce our projects and understand other projects at the same time.” said Kim Jong-hyeop, who is a member of ICON Foundation and a speaker for the first day of UDC 2018.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;After lectures, there were times for networking for participants while enjoying music.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Second day of UDC 2018 opened with a welcoming speech from CEO Lee Seok-woo. “Blockchain has started discussions about decentralization, anonymity, free participation, and perfect security.” said CEO Lee. &nbsp;</div>
<div>“Actual work will be done by codes that come from developers and these codes will continue to grow blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystems.”&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Well-known personnel from foreign blockchain companies such as CEO Bill Shihara of Bittrex and Founder Da Hongfei of NEO also attended UDC 2018 as speakers. “There is no fee to be listed on Bittrex.” said CEO Bill Shihara while strongly denying ‘certain rumors’. He also hinted about expanding Bittrex to other countries as Bittrex is planning to establish its corporate in Malta.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;Lamda 256, which is Dunamu’s blockchain R&amp;D group, introduced a platform called ‘Luniverse’ that allows anyone to develop DApps (Decentralized Application).&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Luniverse is a platform that provides 5 services such as blockchain, token, vulnerability diagnosis, operation, and utility in a form of an API. Luniverse will start operating on the 18th and it will be commercialized on full-scale at the end of this year.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“We have developed Luniverse so that anyone can easily and conveniently establish token economy and launch his or her own Mainnet.” said Director Park Jae-hyun of Lamda 256 Research Institute. “We are also thinking about holding a separate conference to inform others about Luniverse.”&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Chairman Shin Hyeon-sung of TMON, who is also the co-founder of Terra, and CEO Lee Deok-soon of Ozys also introduced technical skills of their respective companies. Terra is planning to introduce ‘Terra Pay’ that can be used for TMON and Baemin.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Ozys is operating South Korea’s first decentralized exchange ‘Allbit’. Its goal is to increase processing speed up to 1,000TPS by end of this year.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;There were also lectures from security experts with topics on blockchain and security. Professor Chun Jung-hee of Seoul National University and Professor Lee Hee-jo of Korea University spoke about these topics.&nbsp;</div>

 &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;UDC 2018 came to an end with a presentation by CEO Lee Kang-joon of Dunamu &amp; Partners on ‘Future of Blockchain from Investors’ Eyes’.</div>

<div><a href="https://blokt.com/headlines/south-korea">South Korea’s Jeju Island</a> was painted red by a global community of blockchain enthusiasts on Thursday, Sept. 13, as the inaugural <a href="https://blokt.com/headlines/event">Upbit Developer Conference 2018</a>(UDC 2018) started off with a bang. Founder and Chairman of Dunamu Inc. Chi-Hyung Song took to the podium to welcome the attendees. The conference has lined up several major blockchain figures in the industry to address the gathering, including Onchain cofounder Jun Li and Bittrex CEO Bill Shihara, among others.</div>

He focused on the crucial role that developers play in helping mass blockchain adoption by creating mainstream services. <div>Talking about Dunamu and Upbit’s crypto trading platform, Song noted that the company is working on improving the security, reliability and compliance of the exchange. The company’s investment arm, Dunamu and Partners, and its research arm, Lambda 256, will focus on growing and identifying blockchain projects with strong potential. Song noted that Dunamu will likewise provide support for the blockchain ecosystem via events like UDC, which promote communities for decentralized application developers and blockchain platforms.</div>

<div>As the day progressed, two more speakers took to the podium to share their views with the attendees. The first among them was Ontology founder and Onchain cofounder Jun Li. He spoke about the important role that trust will play in taking blockchain mainstream. He said that the different technologies offered by Ontology can help in solving trust issues surrounding blockchain. These include solutions like Distributed ID and Data Exchange Framework, along with ONT ID. ONT ID helps in end-to-end data exchange while verifying identities better and offering improved privacy.</div>

<div>The second speaker was Dawn Song, CEO of Oasis Labs and professor at UC Berkeley. He spoke about smart contracts and suggested that they are the ideal solution for fixing several privacy issues in the <a href="https://blokt.com/headlines/blockchain">blockchain ecosystem, </a>along with personal information protection and the data silo effect.</div>
